Deep Summer_Dandelion Sprite

This is the Dandelion Sprite by Aurora Wings.  The Sam Keen sentiment reads:  "Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability."  The sprite is colored in Prismacolor pencils, touched with stickles and clear star and yellow and green glitter pens. (Shuttle Art) The artpiece is matted on green embossed paper on daffodil delight (SU) paper.   She's for the Anything Goes Challenge #53 at Aurora Wings this month.

The inside of the card reads:

Oh Dandelion, yellow as gold
What do you do all day?
"I just wait here in the tall green grass
Till the Children come out to play."

Oh dandelion, yellow as gold
What do you do all night?
"I wait and wait till the cold dews fall
And my hair grows long and white."

And what do you do when you hair is white

And the children come out to play?

"They take me up in their dimpled hands.
And blow my hair away."

When we lived in Washington state all summer long we fought and fought dandelions!  And so did all of the neighbors.  They appeared overnight and seemed to seed before we could get them "rounded up!"  I will send this card to my friend who still lives next door to where we were, because she's got a field of yellow right now again!

Wings and Petals

This "Things with Wings" Facebook Challenge entry became one of my very favorite cards ever.  She started out to be done in other colors (in my mind's eye) but as I worked she became an orange toned piece.  I was doing it for a friend who had kidney surgery for a cancerous kidney, and after I was all through with the card, I discovered that orange is the "ribbon color" for kidney cancer. Wings and Petals can be found here.  This one is colored in Prismacolor Pencils, finished in wink of stella, stickles, enamel dots and accents. She is double mounted on damask embossed orange paper, tied with an organza ribbon and has black glitter paper diecut butterflies (Colette Butterfly Branch #99387-by Memory Box).   Get Well soon is heat emossed black (Lawn Fawn sentiment scripty sayings stamp LF844)  The inside of the card has my note to my friend, and orange ribbon of hope, and two more black glittered butterflies.

Aurora Wings_Primrose Sprite

I followed some of the steps in Jennifer McGuire's tutorial for making a tulle shaker card when I created this whimsical Primrose Sprite card.  She's colored in Prismacolor pencils, and finished with sequins by perfectly posh and recollections. The background matting is embossed with a polka dot EF and her skirt is polka dotted with Posca White paint.  A tiny bow and silver sentiment sticker completes this little Primrose Sprite.

Whisper of the Sea

Whisper of the Sea by Mitzi Sato Wiuff is an entry in Challenge #52.  Under the Sea
This beautiful mermaid is listening to the whisper of the conch.

My soul is full of longing for the secret of the sea, and the heart
of the great ocean sends a thrilling pulse through me
 `~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow~
She is partially die cut with a scalloped die, and that is backed with ruffled white tulle that has been glittered with "Stickles"  The mermaid is worked in prismacolor pencils, Wink of Stella, GellyRoll clear star glitter pen, tiny sequins and glitter, inked and mounted on "Bermuda  Bay" paper in an A2 card.

This is a monochromatic artpiece using  Aurora Wings "Siren" created for the Challenge # 52.  Under the Sea.
She is worked in Prismacolor Pencils, wink of stella, glaze and glimmer pens, glitters and all shades of gray in pearls and rhinestones and tied with a silver, black and white ribbon.  The inkwork that Mitzi did with this detailed and spectacular image is amazing, and I think best showcased with very little color to share the fine fine lines and detail.

Friday, June 23, 2017

With the loss of a dear cousin's very ill husband, I  created a sympathy card using Simon Says Heart Breeze die, and Lawn Fawn LF844 Scripty Sayings.  The Layered Die Cuts heart design was inspired by Jennifer Mc Guire  6 .23.17 tutorials on layered die cuts.  The Heart Breeze die was cut four times, and each heart stacked 2, 3 or 4 deep on the card.  Accents were done with  Wink of Stella, Crystal 3D glaze, Tosca White Pen, pearls, grey and clear rhinestones.  The sentiment was embossed in white on acetate. The artpiece was edged with clear holographic lines (Pop Ups Etc) and mounted on patterned vellum attached to a darker gray cardstock (Smoky  Slate and Basic Gray--SU)

The Siren's Birthday Wish

I am so proud that he Siren's Birthday wish was chosen as one of the top 3 Submissions for Aurora Wings Challenge #51.  Thank you Mitzi, for the amazing work you share and for your enormous talent that inspires us all.
Siren was one of the featured Digi stamp by Mitzi Sato Wiuff for her 3K Member Celebration June 9 and 10th.  Games and special challenges were part of the weekend event.  Siren was one of the brand-new digis that Mitzi created for this extravaganza, and this is what I did with her.  I have created this card for the Aurora Wings Challenge #51    There is NO way that the camera can catch the incredible detail in this beautiful digi, nor how stunning all the gllittering is in this card created to celebrate my daughter's birthday AND to applaud her as she emerges from the depths to new heights opening her brand new  Permanent Make Up, Spa and Beauty Salon.   Elite Images new location is in Palm Desert California,  All good wishes for amazing success in your beautiful new location.  May this be your best year EVER.

Jewels, bubbles,  sequins and pearls spill out from under the organza triple bow cascading across the gilded triple frame which  is backed with acetate and edged with holographic gold edged lines.    The static on the popped up window-acetate has picked up remnant gold glitter and glistened it to the back of the surface of the acetate above the Siren. Not a "shaker at all"---just there and glittery.
The rather wistful siren is worked in Prismacolor pencils, and finished with several colors of Stickles, Wink of Stella, 3D crystal glaze and small jewels.  Cardstock is SU Island Indigo

Sentiment reads:  For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it
For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it
For every love, there is a heart somewhere to receive it
Sentiment font is: DJB Holly Serif Bold

Splitcoast Stampers---Card Clutch

This was the Wednesday Tutorial this week at  Splitcoast  Stampers presented by  Dee Slater  The directions are easy to follow and the clutch is a lot of fun to create and share.  I used a magnet closure, and with the specified card size (3 1/2 x 5) cards inserted the magnet is not strong enough to hold all the layers and keep the clutch closed or a bar shaped magnet instead of round washer/magnet combination. So the final application for this project will be separate cards---and coupons in the pockets!  Next clutch I'll use a tie or buckle closure

SU Designer paper, Lost Lagoon color ink, 2014-2016 "In Color Designer Series" paper stack, Eastern Beauty diecuts and stickers, Fancy Sentiments by Just Rite Stamps, Butterfly by Memory Box.  Big Hugs diecut (not sure) Petite Petals, SU, and ribbons and other findings.

Splitcoast Stampers Basket Weave Tuck and Fold

I have the paper template from a decade ago in both large  and small folds tuck and folds. And somewhere a die that is for this fancy fold edge.  The dies I have for tuck and folds came from PopUps Etc  ge\o-die collection but I can't find them today, I did this technique with two sided Christmas Paper in 2012.
But it is just as fun and easy technique when you cut with and from the template Kelley provided and ends up with a card with a totally different twist.  I followed the tutorial by Kelley Acheson at Split Coast  Stampers  in her Wednesday Technique Spotlight today.

The card is created with  SU Basic Gray paper, DP by Echo Park (Off Road) twine from Really Reasonable Ribbon, and Birthday diecut from Hello You- (SU) and stamp from Petite Pairs stampset.

The Laymans Commandments

Text Reads:
Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout the journey.

So why is a Car's Windshield so large & the RearView Mirror so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, Look Ahead and Move on.

Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes a few minutes to burn, but it takes years to write.

All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong, don't worry, they can't last long either.

Old Friends are Gold! New Friends are Diamond! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always need a Base of Gold!

Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!”

When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.

A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision!"

When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, it takes away today's PEACE.

This layout is created with Snickerdoodle Designs by Karen's "Spring Spirit" and "Friends Forever" kits.  Edged in Starform border line stickers and matted on black.

Fleta The Unicorn

This adorable graphic was drawn by Zoe at Make it Crafty.   I am going to overlay either  "Believe" or "Dream" or "Believe in Magic" Embossed in sparkle on either vellumor acrylic placed over the rainbow paper with diagonal stripes.  (I created that in Photoshop using the paint brush and the gradient filter and it is printed on glossy metallic photo paper.) The Unicorn is finished in mixed media....Copics, Prismacolor Pencils, Wink of Stella, Posca Pen and 3D Crystal Glaze.  The script Believe is a BEAUTIFUL 2 size word die by Cheery Lynn Dies B612.  I bought the companion B619 which is Imagine.

Inside sentiment is  SU Feel Goods stamp:  "She believed she could...(SU Feels Good)  so she did" Edged in gold glitter, and over a sticker from PopUps Etc.

Sentiment reads "Being a Human is complicated.   Time to become a UNICORN"

Quick Thank You

These cards are simply SU designer paper and black and white cardstock. The Sentiment is a Die by Impression Obsession (#235-M) and the dragonfly is Technique Tuesday's.  Both cards are enhanced with diamond Stickles.  I needed two very quick cards today---but these MAY get colored with Prismacolor Pencils before I mail them.  They are striking in black and white, but a touch of color would be gorgeous also.

Nice colored too.   With sequins and Crystal Glaze and Prismacolor Pencil work.

This card below was colored with Chameleon pens and accented with Posca white and green Wink Of Stella.  The artpiece is bordered with black line stickers from popupsetc.
